Hrm, don't really matter if a cap ship takes more damage from the rear since they've all got engines back there. o_O And if this applies to ions aswell, then i can't name many situations where you could get behind them easily...

Vaygr Caps are designed to kill other caps, they even have some troubles with frigs, so targetting collectors with them is not something you want to do.


Looked a little closer and found those two lines with side and rear armor damage. Basically, frigs, BCs, and CCs(and dreads - but you can't build those) all have 20% damage bonus when hit on the side or rear armor. DDs have 20% damage bonus on rear armor only.


Found some more interesting infrormation:

when resource collector is giving you "waiting for orders" speech, it's been idle for 45 seconds

when it gives you "too many collectors", it's been waiting to latch for 20 seconds

when a ship is damaged to 50%, it's captured 4 times faster, which is the maximum modifier for the capture speed

each additional marine speeds up capturing by 10%(up to 8 marines, after that it's only 5% - not likely to happen even in lab games)

when a ship is being repaired by the collectors, it moves at 70% of maximum speed

Do any Ships even have more then 6 [Capture] Latch points?

As to hitting Ions in the rear, I usually have HMF's split into groups when fighting Ions, increases retarget time for them and you get some side and rear hits on Ions facing a different grouping.

i didnt know additional marines would've sped up the capture

i also read that when a ship is getting marined, that it will have its maximum speed lowered to some crawling speed...
and actually is a very good use against vaygr bc... since while marines are mounting on it till it gets killed, it can't even rotate much. but a single missile sequence will kill a marine though but if u keep attaching... the rest of the ion frig can kill it quite easily...

capturing 4 times faster... hmm... dd 90 sec capture time becomes, 22.5 sec, which means, it'll be disabled in just 11.25 seconds... thats kinda very nasty.

Jeez, Capturer sure got the short end of stick for target priorities.

Interesting that Pulsars target Frigates before Fighters while Missles do the opposite, and for that matter that Vaygr GunPlats target Capturers but Hiig ones will not.

Can't remember the last time i selected a ship, band-boxed every enemy on the screen, and basically told it to "just go shoot at something." lol :P

i think its a sane order though, most of the capture targets do target the capturers as primary target and so do the lasers. if it doesnt have sane order, say, when a laser kills a torp nearby, it will start taking down ions leaving marines alone...

funny things are, flaks target cols than carriers first. and lancers somehow try to take down marines after vettes are gone :lol: and somehow bc prefer taking frigs down first...

though once u order a ship to a specific target it seems to hold that priority for the next target. (say, theres 10 frigs and couple dd, targeting dd with bc and killing it will start taking down next dd than going at frigs)

and there's another fact that, not all that hidden, but when someone does angle dd, give the dd many fighters or vettes if possible and dd's cannon will start shooting at it, even the dd is targetting on the cols... to lower col casualties.

Long as the DD is on a move command and not targetting Colls specifically.
