i just had to write this, since no one does it... i mean no one... except a few.

=how to probe and scout=

for one, in ANY game, a scout has to be the first ship to build. if you dont know why, u need to play the game for another year to figure it out. but even if people think its important, they never build till late.

in any case, for example, in crimson bond, if you dont start sending scout right away, you cannot see hyper torp build fast enough and falls into yet another millionth victim of hyper torp and im getting tired of seeing games look 'gg' just coz of my few torps.

and everyone (except a few) thinks me scouting only is adequate. obviously a big mistake. single scout in crimson bond means, i have to move back and forth on positions to check for frig mods and gravs and it is too slow to do it with single scout and again, if other side sends a probe on our base, who is going to kill it? which means, 3 scouts are necessary, its that simple... 2 goes to the other side, 1 sits in base and kill probe or chase scout. but maybe 1 in 30 games, i see everyone make their own scout. so... plz... just get one.

and people probe far too less...and they keep building up and sits ships at wherever place they feel like not knowning from what direction the attack might come from. i dont know why so many people have difficulty spending 150 ru or so to save 10 times worth ru for strategic advantage. i see people toss probes at sides and all, but not much at the very important part of their own base...

and next, ms's advanced sensor range is bigger than a regular probe while its practically unbeatable, so everyone just have to make it... but again, maybe 1 people out of 10 make this. and cc's advanced sensor is smaller than that of a probe's, so u should get a probe where cc is sitting. as in many maps, cc move closer to where the attack might happen, thus a probing is sooo necessary and i dont know why people hestitate to spend 150ru that can decide a game.

and of course hyper sensor on cc is obviously imoprtant and yet i guess less than half skilled people make this early enough to spot any hyper torp, angle dd moves...

cheap, so important... u should do... im tired of asking team to plz probe, make scout, get advanced sensor on ms etc.

and im against making sensor distortion probe. while if undetected it can be a total whopping advantage, but that is usually because other side is nub enough to miss it coming and just leave it alone. in cb, if position 2 and 1 has ms sensor array, then you can see it flying in and its only a matter of a probe you need to send near the destination of that probe and kill it. sensor dist probes need 500ru research and 600ru for each or for vay, 800ru for research but 500ru for each. which means, if you send 2, u need to spend 1700ru or so. and if you just screw it up, its a very big loss while with that amount of ru, you can send about 12 probes, which means, even if probes keep dieing, if you keep tossing it from time to time, you get to see things clear enough than risk of losing so much ru with just a few try. i can sometimes see im just winning the game by killing sensor distortion probes. but these days people just dont probe at all, so sensor dist works cool most time.

theres no excuse not to make advanced sensor on ms and a scout at the first of game, unless you're doing some super ru tight advanced strat.

And to kill incoming probes/scouts. Don't wait to be asked to pfft spies hovering over your teammates.

I think it depends on who you're playing and whether you plan on a quick (hypercap) or long (sy spam [meh!]) game. Some people are remorseless probe hunters, and I never bother making sens dist vs. them. And no point if you're jumping early to enemy.
