Finally, I've set up a FTP server, so people can upload their video and I will host them on the records site.
But here are a few rules I need to set to make sure things go proper...
- Username and password are required to log in, but that is to avoid some random stranger putting shit on my server.
- Once you upload it, you need to give me email letting me know who uploaded what, so I can move the file to the proper place after it's uploaded.
- Don't touch other people's uploaded files... I will move the files elsewhere for hosting once it's uploaded, so there shouldn't be other files randomly sitting there, but if there is, don't touch it. I can give every user different authentication to protect everyone's file from other people, but you know how reluctant that is...
- And... just the vids plz... not even porns... no cool pics, no cool apps, no shit, just hw2 records, if you put something else, i can assure that is gone within a day.
The FTP address is
ftp://hw2rec:[email protected]/That means, user name is hw2rec and password is rechw2 at demonclan.org server all specified in an address. If your FTP client has other means of placing authentication information, please go by that, but this should work for most clients. (Do note that Explorer or Internet Explorer sucks just so bad when it comes to FTP, so I really recommend you get something cooler like
SmartFTP or other FTP clients that just works like it should.)
And typically when you have ADSL, upload speed is pretty slow, so you (or your comp) has to have some patience till upload is done. FTP server does have resume on upload feature turned on, so check on the client if it can resume the upload in case if connection or something goes poo in the middle of upload.
And when you have successfully uploaded a video, send an email to
[email protected] with following information.
- Your name
- When vid was taken
- What map
- Who vs who (the name of actual names played just so you won't piss people off by telling who they are.)
- small description (maybe 1 line and generally not telling who won will make viewers more entertained)
- Name of the file that you uploaded
And I'll move the file to the right place when I read the mail.
When you upload, the FTP client must be set to use 'Passive' mode. or PASV or however the config is in your client.
And if you have any half uploaded junk or some irrelevant file beside the one you uploaded properly, please delete those (but don't touch files you never uploaded...) before things get messy in the folder and I can't figure out what's what.
